Nancy show beats all odds

lakilsoft Noviembre 4th, 2007

DOHA • Despite opposition from conservative elements in the Qatari community, popular Lebanese pop singer Nancy Ajram’s shows have been a huge success here, says prominent social activist and businessman, Hassan Al Jefairi.

There is tremendous excitement in the community since Ajram landed here to perform and there is popular demand to extend her itinerary, Al Jefairi told this newspaper yesterday.

She is taking part in a play which is exclusively meant for children but one can see a lot of Qatari young men at her shows. It’s mostly people in the age group of 18-25 years who can be seen queuing up outside the venue of the show to buy tickets.

“You can have an idea about the excitement among Qatari youths from the fact that they are moving in groups in their neighbourhoods every day offering free tickets for Ajram’s shows to children, so they can accompany them,” said Al Jefairi.

Hassan Al Jefairi

And what is being hotly debated by young men these days is whether Ajram’s hair is really curly or done up. “We Arabs consider young women with curly hair as very attractive,” he said.

Arabic-language satellite channels are airing more video clippings of Ajram’s these days than they did before and people, including children and grown-ups, are glued to their TV sets most of the time.

Some 80 per cent of Arabic TV networks are music channels, 15 per cent or so exclusively focus on films and serials and barely five per cent of them are devoted to news, said Al Jefairi.

Talking of conservatives, he said it was sad that their influence in society was of late growing menacingly. They want young men and children not to sing, dance or even listen to music. “This is absurd. Islam does not forbid singing nor does it ask you not to dance or listen to music.”

Muslims were great patrons of music in Al Andalus (Spain). History bears testimony to the fact that the Ottoman Sultans were highly fond of music and dance.

Studies show that music plays a crucial part in personality development and it can help a student master difficult subjects like science and mathematics. “We don’t encourage the teaching of music in our schools and we are paying a huge price,” said Al Jefairi.

Qatar needed 3,000 doctors last year and could produce only 24. The number of engineers required was 9,000. “But we had only 28 engineering graduates last year,” he pointed out. “Music develops your sensibilities. It has a soothing effect on your senses.”

Hilmi Baker composes for Nancy Ajram

lakilsoft Noviembre 4th, 2007

It seems that the Egyptian composer Hilmi Baker who has composed beautiful song through his career has stopped criticizing new singers. Baker has decided to go back to composing after being away from it for five years. nancy
At this moment Baker is preparing for a great surprise for those who like his style of music. Baker is composing two songs for the famous Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram that will be included in her new album. One of the songs that are being composed by Baker is written by him as well and the other by the poet Baha Al Deen Muhammad called “Inta Ya”.
According to the London daily Elaph, Baker points out that he is a fan of Nancy Ajram and describes her as holding a unique and beautiful voice. He also adds that through her songs she captured the heart of old and young alike. Baker also points out that working with Nancy frees him from all accusation that he refuses to work with new and young singers.

He also adds that those who accused him have forgotten that he is the one who discovered the young singer Manal. Baker also composed the song “Eh El Azama Di Kolaha” for the famous Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq, which was the starting point for his fame. Baker has no trouble working with any new singer as long as that singer has the right voice and talent.
On the other hand Nancy has chosen the song “Mtakhdsh Fe Balak” (Don’t Worry About It) to add to her new album that she’s working on.

A New Look for Nancy Ajram

lakilsoft Marzo 17th, 2007

It seems the trend nowadays is songs for children - not that I’m against kids or anything! - … Special songs & video clips for kids … 1st it was Haifa Wehbe & now it’s Nancy Ajram! I wonder who’s going to do this next? Maria? Or Dana? … Ooops! Sorry, Dana is only in the adult video clips business! You know what? I’d rather watch children’s songs than the crap we’re seeing each day on music satellite channels.
In all cases … Nancy Ajram takes on a new look in her latest video clip of her kids oriented song ‘Shater Shater’.
Nancy takes on the role of a school teacher that tries to teach kids to obey their parents & do good in school. Continue Reading »

nancy ajram biography

lakilsoft Octubre 1st, 2006

Nancy was a child prodigy with an innocent sensuality, one that seems to be of her own invention.
At the age of (4), signs of artistic sensations appeared on her face  every time she heard a song or a tender voice from the TV or radio, or even from her own parents.

At the age of twelve (12), she participated in a TV program called “Noujoum Al Mostakbal?, and she won a golden medal / Tarab category.

Later on she started studying vocal and music theory with the best music teachers in Lebanon.
Although she was less than 18 years old, the syndicate of professional artists in Lebanon accepted her as a member because they found her to be an exceptional talent and deserved to be qualified as a professional artist.
Nancy launched her first album “ Mouhtagalak? in 1998, then in 2001 she launched her second album “Shil Oyounak Ani?, but the hit was her last album “Ah w Noss? in 2005. In “Oscar video clips? Festival 2003 at Sharam El Sheikh, she won an award as the best Arab singer for the year 2003.

Nancy is addicted to her work; she’s a perfectionist who spends hours in the studio.

Nancy is definitely a promising star with an extra ordinary talent. We expect more success day after day for our adorable star.
